Anne Christine Wellenstein
Anne Christine Wellenstein, born in Pau in 1974, grew up surrounded by pastels and watercolours, initially drawn to haute couture. After completing her scientific baccalaureate, she enrolled at the Versailles School of Architecture. It was a revelation that fuelled her creativity through art history, construction sciences and 3D work. Very quickly, painting became the essential path for her future.
A professional painter since 1999, she has developed a unique technique of superimposing thin layers of oil on raw linen canvas, playing with pigments to create vibrant and subtle textures, sometimes with accents reminiscent of pastels. Her delicate and structured brushstrokes are part of a constant search for depth and light.
Her world, at the crossroads of the imaginary and the real, reveals the poetry of a fleeting moment, of a fleeting emotion. Gardens of Eden, horses and architecture respond to each other in a dreamlike and sensory atmosphere, where each work cultivates a sense of mystery. A passionate horsewoman, she maintains a daily and intimate connection with horses, an inexhaustible source of inspiration. This sensitive companionship is extended in a series of bronzes and terracottas, where sculpture conveys the strength and delicacy of the animal.
His visual language draws as much from Japanese influences as it does from jazz, equestrian arts and the structure of landscapes. His canvases become windows onto what amazes him: the grace of living things, movement, memory and traces.
Over time, 3D has found its way into her work. Bronze or terracotta sculptures, atypical volumes, painted pieces of wood… painting and sculpture complement each other, extending the same poetic spirit. Active in France and internationally, she regularly exhibits her work and leads workshops on artistic practice and art history, faithful to her desire to pass on her knowledge.
Présente en France et à l’international, elle expose régulièrement et anime des ateliers de pratique artistique et d’histoire de l’art, fidèle à son désir de transmission.
